Up to 6,000 people a day visit the street to browse, a quarter of which are tourists. Over a hundred publishing events have held and some half million books have been sold over the last year on this short street.
"I did whatever I could to ensure this went ahead as planned under the project management team. With a team like that, they're sure to succeed", Le Thai Hi - Former Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Information & Communications - said.
After a year of nonstop innovations, the Book Road's ambition became a reality when it became the only cultural event according to the city's authorities.
"The Book Road will have more to prove in its future years, but I believe it'll grow ever stronger and richer as a hub for knowledge", Dr.Quach Thu Nguyet - Ho Chi Minh City Book Road Management - said.
People believe this road could see further success as 24 districts in the city will copy the book road concept, promising even more to come.
