After receiving the news, the Ministry of Defense deployed a helicopter carrying doctors from the Military Hospital 175 to bring the fisherman to the mainland for treatment. The fisherman, Pham Huu Cuong, hit his head on the floor of his boat after his foot slipped while retrieving his net, leaving him unconscious. Doctors on Sơn Ca Island, Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, carried out first aid. However, they had to report the case to the mainland as the patient was said to have suffered a life-threatening stroke. In the early morning of Monday, the helicopter moved the patient to the intensive care division of the Military Hospital 175. As of Monday afternoon, the patient’s health had become more stable.
