Dung will face charges of taking advantage of freedom and democracy rights to infringe upon interests of the state, legitimate rights and interests of individuals and organizations as stipulated in Article 258 of the Criminal Code. Dung arrest is one of the many in recent years in which authorities has investigated and prosecuted for plotting anti-government propagandas.
Vietnam's growing internet usage rate poses many threats to national security and social order and safety, especially utilization by anti-government forces to spread propaganda and false information, incite disruption, in order to undermine the party's leadership.
