HCMC investigates the outbreaks of Zika virus

The Cultural and Social Affairs Division of the People's Council in Ho Chi Minh City has been investigating into the outbreaks of the Zika virus infection in Bình Thạnh District, Ho Chi Minh City, where there have been a record number of Zika infection cases.

After the investigation, the causes were determined to be the high frequency of promotion activities on regular mosquito spraying in the locality, which has backfired. Currently in Bình Thạnh District, there are 140 stalled construction projects, which are the ideal habitat of Culex larvae which carries the Zika virus. As of November 14, the City has discovered 3 more cases of Zika infection, bringing the total number of Zika cases in Ho Chi Minh City to 38.
