VTV.vn - French beef will once again be available in Vietnamese markets after a ban on this product was removed on May 1st.

French Secretary of State for Trade Martine Pinville visited Hanoi for a working session with Vietnam’s Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development on July 27th - 28th.

In an effort to boost exports of beef to Vietnam, Pinville emphasized that this would benefit French farmers andenhance bilateral ties between Vietnam and France.

The ban was lifted following a dialogue between the 2 countries in April in Hanoi. Vietnam did this in recognition of the World Organisation for Animal Health’s confirmation that France is officially clear of mad cow disease.

France is now among the many countries including Australia, US and Japan from which Vietnam imports beef.  Vietnam has increased its beef export volume by 70% last year and this is likely to rise in the future.
