The event gathered the City’s Authorities, theConsulate General of Japan in HCMC and Japanese enterprises.
According to the city’s authorities, Japan currently has 788 projects ongoing in the city, withtotal investment of 2.72 billion US dollars.
The country is also the largest ODA donor to Vietnam with total capital standing at about 27 billion dollars over the past 20 years. Japanese representatives said Vietnam acts as a gateway for Japan to enter the ASEAN bloc.
Ho Chi Minh is Vietnam’s Southern metropolis with huge potential and advantages. The city has 17 export processing and industrial zones, including two high-tech zones. The two sides hoped that economic relations between the two countries will be lifted through Japanese investment in HCMC and Vietnam in general.
