The inspection team including the ministry and scientists have issued a report on the state of central region's maritime environment a year after the major pollution incident.
Formosa has met its obligations. The construction of automatic waste and exhaust fume monitoring system has basically been completed. In order to improve the efficiency of the waste treatment, Formosa has requested the implementation of better equipment.
With its improvement so far, Formosa has met the requirements to operate the blast furnace. This will be reported to the prime minister for approval to allow official operation in the near future.
In addition to the standing inspection team based in Formosa, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment will continue to work closely with Ha Tinh Province, related ministries and environmentalists to periodically inspect and conduct random spot checks on the Formosa facility.
