Boats at Can Tho’s floating markets, traditional musical instruments of the Khmer people in Soc Trăng Province, and many other typical traits of Mekong Delta provinces were on display. This is the first time all 13 provinces of the delta have gathered in a cultural event held in Hanoi.
"I love traveling around the country to explore the beauty of each locality. Coming to this exhibition I feel very excited, as I can see the images of the places that I have been to." - Nguyen Van Thuy, Hanoi.
"We hope to bring the unique cultural traits of the Mekong Delta region closer to people in Hanoi. The event also provides an opportunity for people to experience the places that they have yet to visit." - Duong Van Quynh, Organizer.
Exhibition goers also enjoyed an art performance featuring traditional singing and dancing originating from the Mekong Delta provinces. Đờn ca tài tử, which was recognised as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, entertained audiences.
"We want to promote our typical music to Hanoi residents, so that they will have a deeper understanding about our culture." - Nguyen Thanh Truc, Bac Lieu City.
The exhibition aims to promote the delta's tourism potential and typical cultural values. The event will run until November 19th.
