2016 is expected to be a difficult year for the power sector, especially hydroelectricity. Therefore, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) has created 3 different plans to balance power production and consumption for 2016, which will be submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
According to EVN, power supply to the Southern Region will be (especially) difficult, so it is stepping up efforts in fixing and enhancing coal-fired plants, hydropower plants, gas turbines, and reservoirs in the Central and Southern regions. At the same time, EVN is racing to complete electrical grids such as the 500kV Pleiku 2 transformer station and North-Central 220kV transmission lines to enhance transmission capacity among regions.
