In response to the directive of General Secretary To Lam, given during a meeting with educators and education administrators on November 18, 2024, to launch the national campaign for “Digital Universal Education” and promote a widespread movement of “digital learning”, the Central Commission for Propaganda and Mass Mobilization has partnered with Vietnam Television (VTV), the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Viettel Group to produce the television program Digital Citizens.
Digital Citizens chronicles the journey of awareness, skill-building, and action as the Vietnamese people transition to becoming proactive, empowered, and innovative digital citizens.

In the era of Industry 4.0, where technology permeates every aspect of daily life, digital literacy is no longer optional, but a critical requirement to ensure no one is left behind. As such, Digital Citizens aims to be more than just being a television program. It serves as a companion to society in the national digital transformation process.
The program aims to strengthen public awareness and understanding of the critical role of science, technology, and innovation in driving digital transformation. These efforts are expected to create breakthroughs that propel national development in the new era, foster the digital economy, and cultivate digital citizens.
Journalist Nguyen Ton Nam from the Department of Special Features and Educational Programs, Vietnam Television (VTV), said “Digital Citizens will feature authentic and relatable stories of everyday people—students, teachers, farmers, doctors, small business owners... Each character offers a unique perspective on how digital transformation begins right within their daily lives”.
In addition, the program will highlight community initiatives, digital platforms, online public services, and technological solutions that help improve quality of life. These segments will be interspersed with concise commentary from experts and policymakers, providing viewers with clear and accessible explanations of relevant policies.

Through these practical and relevant stories delivered to television audiences, the Digital Citizens program aims to raise public awareness about the national digital transformation. At the same time, it seeks to inspire and spread the influence of exemplary models, individuals, and collectives who are actively applying digital technologies in their daily lives.
From there, the program's producers hope that Digital Citizens will foster a collective effort across society in implementing Government Decree 57/NĐ-CP on the development of digital citizens.
With a practical, objective approach and many inspiring stories, Digital Citizens promises to reaffirm its role as an essential information channel in the journey of building a digital society, contributing to the realization of strategic goals in the era of global digitalization.
