He told a meeting on February 18 that the sections that must be put into operation in 2022 include Mai Son (Ninh Binh) - National Highway 45 (Thanh Hoa), Cam Lo (Quang Tri) - La Son (Thua Thien Hue) and Vinh Hao (Binh Thuan) - Dau Giay (Dong Nai).
Thanh also asked for the completion of another 149 kilometres in 2023, including the National Highway 45 - Nghi Son, Nghi Son - Dien Chau, Nha Trang - Cam Lam sections and My Thuan 2 Bridge.
The construction of these sections faces a shortage of building materials necessary for laying road foundations.
The Deputy PM urged localities, contractors and construction crews to make greater efforts and noted that if the problem of the material shortage is not resolved, the goal will be very difficult to fulfil by year-end.
According to the Ministry of Transport, local authorities are working hard to remove obstacles concerning the sources of building materials in March.
Deputy PM Thanh stated that based on the per-month progress targets, the government will regularly inspect construction and penalise violations regarding the progress rate.
He asked the Ministry of Transport to work with the Ministry of Construction to organise field inspection tours to ensure the quality of the project.
