The announcement of cause and liability, along with efforts by the authorities to stabilise the life of affected fishermen have contributed to strengthening trust and hope among local residents.

In order to improve livelihoods and help fishing crews return to work, Ha Tinh Province has established a council that will assess the damage to provide accurate compensation.

The compensation process started on July 1st. Fishermen will also receive health insurance coverage, and 0% loans on finance used to change career, or resume fishing.

Ha Tinh is focusing on how to restore fishing in the province and stabilise the life of fishermen. While challenges lie ahead, opportunities of new careers or the resumption of their traditional fishing vocations is becoming a reality.
