Le reaffirmed Vietnam’s policy of resolutely protesting against all acts of using or threatening to use force against Vietnamese vessels. Such acts violate international law as well as the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and seriously threaten peace and stability in the region.
During the incident, Chinese coast guard ships and a warship reportedly threatened a Vietnamese supply ship off Vietnam’s Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago. As a result, the Vietnamese ship left the area.
