VTV.vn - National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung will lead a high-ranking delegation to pay an official visit to China on December 23-27.

This is Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung’s first visit to China as National Assembly Chairman. It has an important significance to the Vietnam – China bilateral ties and Vietnam’s external relations in general. More to follow.

On his first state visit to Vietnam in November, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and Chinese President Xi Jinping delivered a speech to the Vietnamese National Assembly. During his 20-minute speech, the Chinese leader emphasised the need to maintain the friendship between the two countries, which was cultivated by Chairman Mao Zedong and President Ho Chi Minh.

Xi Jinping, Chinese President said: As neighbours, Vietnam and China faced some disagreements. However, the two countries need to look to friendly negotiations to settle disputes in a friendly manner and prevent our relations from deviating from the positive development trend of the relationship between Vietnam and China.

Professor Nan Lai of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said that the Chinese President’s speech was consistent with the wishes of the Chinese people.

Prof. Nan Lai, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said: I totally agree with the president’s speech.  It delivered the desires of the Chinese people for good relations between the two countries. I think that if we can do what President Xi said, we can promote relations between the two countries.

Since the normalisation of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and China in 1991, bilateral co-operation has improved tremendously in all fields on the basis of the comprehensive strategic partnership. The two sides have resolved land borders and an agreement on the basic principles to deal with maritime issues between the two countries.

Lin Yi, Vice President, Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries said: The visit of the Vietnam's National Assembly Chairman to China will a great chance to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Vietnam relations. I believe that the visit of Chinese President to Vietnam will enhance friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Prof. Huang Xing Qiu, Director, Vietnam Research Centre, Zhejiang Industrial University said: The China's National People's Congress and the National Assembly of Vietnam are the national legislatures of the two countries. The visit of Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman Nguyễn Sinh Hùng to China will promote the policies of the two countries.

Vietnam has always wanted to maintain a good relationship with China in all fields. If the two countries’ leaders can stick to the big picture of China-Viet Nam friendship and development of both nations, adhere to mutual respect and friendly consultation, they can overcome all obstacles for the interests of the two countries, and for peace, stability and co-operation./
