According to the country’s vaccine production units, the financial sources for the research and production of vaccines in Vietnam remain limited. The representative from the State Capital Investment Corporation proposed 3 options to the government to improve the situation. He also stressed the importance of restructuring research and vaccine production facilities.
Nguyen Chi Thanh, Deputy Director General, State Capital Investment Corporation said: In order to ensure the supply of vaccines, the Ministry of Health has been working on research and production of 6 in 1 vaccines. The vaccine protects people from diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, polio, influenza type B and Hepatitis B.
Prof. Nguyen Tuan Dat, Head, 6 in 1 Vaccine Research and Production project said: According to the National Product Development Programme for human vaccine, by 2020, Vietnam will produce and commercialize at least 7 vaccines.
Nguyen Thanh Long, Deputy Minister of Health added: The Ministry of Health has set a target to accelerated research progress and production of new vaccines. It’s expected that by 2020, Vietnam would be capable of producing and retailing the 6 in 1 vaccines.
