VTV.vn - The public has praised the quality of the National Assembly Q&A session which concluded on November 17, saying the debate has improved the oversight of the top legislative body.

For two and a half days, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and the Ministers of Industry and Trade, Natural Resources and Environment, Education and Training, and Home Affairs answered 200 questions from National Assembly deputies.

Deputies raised questions about national issues and people’s concerns. These included ways to deal with poor performance and unprofitable projects and companies, market management, smuggling, low-quality products, automobile sector development, and the operation of hydropower plants.

The deputies also questioned the cabinet members about educational reform programs, human resources, and environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and natural resources. The Minister of Home Affairs was asked about personnel downsizing, salary reforms, and measures to improve the quality of state employees.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said “The Q&A session covered issues that are appropriate, close to life, and of public interest. The deputies asked straightforward questions and the discussions were open and frank in clarifying shortcomings, responsible persons, and solutions.”

Debates between National Assembly deputies and cabinet members marked a shift from “presentation delivery” to “discussion”.   Nguyen Van Chien, a NA deputy for Hanoi, said “The deputies don’t have to register to ask questions. They can raise different points during the debate and receive immediate answers.”

The cabinet members, who assumed their posts just a few months ago, gave clear, straightforward answers, showing their determination to deal frankly with all problems. Do Duc Hong Ha, a NA deputy for Hanoi, said “The Prime Minister revealed comprehensive solutions for handling public debts, crime prevention and control, personnel work, and administrative reform. We expect these solutions to be implemented effectively.”

Ngo Thi Kim Yen, a deputy for Da Nang city, said “The answers given by the Prime Minister and other ministers showed a constructive spirit and determination to work together for national development.”
