2,300 people have been reported to have this mosquito-borne disease in Binh Dinh Province alone, doubling last year's figure. Among the infected group, 1 patient recently died due to the disease. The sharp increase in cases is attributed to the rising humidity in the region, creating a favorable habitat for mosquitoes. A lack of financial resources to prevent and treat the disease is also said to be among the reasons. To cope with this, provincial authorities have spent over 200,000 USD on insecticides, medical equipment, and various campaigns to clean up residential and surrounding areas.
