2017 is also an important year for the enhancement of Vietnam and Canada's bilateral relations. In celebration of this special event, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Ping Kitnikone says that Canada will continue to increase its development assistance for Vietnam, especially in agriculture development and adaptation to climate change.
Since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973, Canada has provided 800 million dollars in development aid over the years for Vietnam. Despite many donors reducing their aid for Vietnam as it develops into a middle income country, Canada will continue to support Vietnam’s development in climate change adaptation and food security in the future.
