Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc gave the green light to the Bamboo Airways investment project at Phu Cat Airport, Binh Dinh province with Viet Bamboo Airlines, a subsidiary of FLC Group as project owner.
Under the decision, the airline is expected to have 10 A320-A321 or B737 aircraft by 2030, with total investment capital of over 30 million USD- the minimum stipulated for a local airline.
Additionally, the project's licence will last for 50 years from the date of issuance. In early June, the FLC Group had announced that the airline was expecting to launch its first flight on October 1st, 2018.
The group had also reached an agreement with Boeing to purchase 20 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, and with Airbus to buy 24 A321 neo aircraft. Bamboo Airways plans to provide direct international flights to destinations where FLC Group has resort facilities, such as Quy Nhon, Quang Ninh, Hai Phong, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang, in addition to domestic flights connecting tourist spots in Vietnam.
