The ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) Retreat kicked off this morning (Tuesday) in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the attendance of delegates from 10 ASEAN member states.
The Vietnamese delegation is headed by Deputy Defence Minister Admiral Nguyen Van Hiến. Addressing the opening session, Malaysian Minister of Defence Hishammuddin Hussein reaffirmed the commitment of ASEAN countries in maintaining peace and stability in the area.
The defence ministers will discuss a number of issues concerning regional security such as the risk of terrorism, cyber security, recent developments in the East Sea and other security issues that affect the common interests of ASEAN. They will also discuss plans to hold the upcoming ADMM next year in Laos.
