Agriculture sector increases efficiency

VTV.vn - As a country relying mainly on its agriculture sector, the Vietnamese government is concerned with improving the livelihoods of farmers.

Currently, implementing machinery and equipment is considered key in improving efficiency and reducing costs. This has shown significant results in Quang Dien District, Thua Thien Hue Province.

It’s harvest season for Mr. Nguyen Nhu Phan’s family farm. He used to harvest these 5 hectares of rice fields manually. But now, farmers like Phan can save labour costs and increase production thanks to machines.

Harvesting one hectare of rice costs much labour and time, but with a combine harvester like this, one hectare of rice now takes only 12 days to harvest, with the rice threshed and packaged right away. In addition, the watering and transporting of agricultural products has also been mechanized, which reduces the costs and increases production.

Quang Dien District currently has 104 agrimotors and 78 combine harvesters with a capacity of 7,000 kilos per hectare. The increase in productivity is partly thanks to Government Decision 68, which provides support for commercial loan interest rates to buy agricultural machinery and equipment.

The use of machinery in agricultural production has significantly increased efficiency, reduced costs and losses, and increased crop value and competition. This will help modernize Vietnam’s agriculture sector, to become similar to those in developed countries.
