In fact, local authorities have only disbursed 50.57% of total estimated compensation because consecutive floods have prevented people from receiving the money. So far, Hai Lang District in Quang Tri Province has allocated about 879.000 USD to fishermen. The district established a council for assessing damages and published the list of affected fishermen before disbursement. Quang Tri province is now proposing to renew the deadline for disbursing compensations in order to avoid mistakes and omissions during the allocation process.
