At the ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan stressedd the historical role of the trail as well as the contributions and sacrifices of soldiers. Over 15 years from 1961 to 1975, the Ho Chi Minh sea trail allowed hundreds of unnumbered ships to carry 150,000 tons of goods and weapons and 80,000 cadres and soldiers from the north to the frontline in the south, joining the entire people's efforts to reunify the country.
