Vietnamese American scientist Trinh Xuan Thuan inspires youngsters

The meeting between the professor and readers recently took place at L’Espace French Institute in Vietnam. It was an opportunity for science lovers to hear the latest theories about the universe from the professor.

The book titled The Fate of the Universe - the Big Bang and Thereafter talks about the explosion causing the birth of universe, space and time nearly 14 billion years ago. With the simple words, astronomer Trinh Xuan Thuan has led readers to the story of the formation of the universe, stars, nebulae and black holes… The book was firstly published in 1992, leaving a strong impression on readers thanks to 130 beautiful images. The writer provides explanation of specific terms mention in the book, and readers can easily understand how the universe works.

Trinh Xuan Thuan was born in 1948 in Hanoi, and grew up in Saigon. He studied at the California Institute of Technology and Princeton University, USA. Since 1976, he has been a professor of astronomy at the University of Virginia. As an astrophysicist, he wrote several books about the formation and evolution of galaxies. He is the author of many popular astronomy books which was translated into Vietnamese.

I feel very happy and lucky knowing that many Vietnamese youngsters read my books. I feel proud to inspire the younger generation by my knowledge and experience".

The meeting between the readers and Trinh Xuan Thuan has brought an opportunities for them to find out the works and career of scientific research of the professor, especially new knowledge related to astronomy.
