The event was organised on an 800-meter runway along the street, meant to celebrate the 126th birthday of the late President Ho Chi Minh. A group of 126 models offered 126 lotus flowers to the statue of the late president in front of the town hall.
Different ao dai versions were introduced together with stories of the city’s history. Twenty famous singers also joined in the event last night.
The city authorities have announced that they will hold frequent events on the walking street to entertain both locals and tourists.
The first chapter named “The City of Yesterday” featured a collection of ao dai from the Ho Chi Minh City Ao Dai Museum.
The second chapter is “The City of Today” showcasing a variety of ao dai, reflecting the changes of the traditional costume over the years.
“The City of Tomorrow” is the last part of the show, introducing a new collection that describes a city which loves ao dai and peace.
Six local fashion designers Si Hoang, Quynh Paris, Thuy Nguyen, Hoai Sang, Tuan Tran and Pham Dang Anh Thu brought a total of 10 collections to the event.
