In the 9th Hue festival, the image of the áo dài will still be a highlight. However, another outstanding point is Vietnamese calligraphy - a unique culture of Hue, which has been drawn on the new ao dai style for men. This combination is considered a way to promote and honour calligraphy, a typical culture of Vietnamese people.
"This is the first time I have tried to draw calligraphy on the áo dài as a cultural picture. With the bamboo pattern, I really want to showcase the honesty and strong will of Vietnamese people. Besides that, along with the Huế poem, I want to honour Hue's beauty", Nguyen Khanh Quy, calligraphy club in Hue city, said.
Hundreds of ao dai in Hue will be showcased at the festival. Among them, 3 new collections by Viet Bao are expected to attract many visitors, including “Dung dinh dung dang”, “Vietnam gam hoa”, and “Ve mien Huong ngu” .
The festival also carries a message for humanity, by using patterns of poor children on their children's ao dai. With the participation of more than 10 designers from 3 regions of Vietnam, including North, Central, and South, the áo dài Festival 2016 promises to bring many diverse styles which will promote the cultural beauty of Hue.
