Vietnamese tennis international Lam Quang Tri will likely be sued for verbally abusing a member of the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) on social media.

Tri, who played for Vietnam at the Davis Cup 2015 Asia – Pacific Zone 3 in Malaysia last month, has severely criticized Hoang Longy on his Facebook page.

Hoang Longy is the chief editor of the Vietnam Tennis Lifestyle Magazine and a member of the VTF.

Tri has accused Longy of defaming and ruining the unity of the members of the Vietnamese national tennis team.

On his Facebook page, Tri flamed Longy with bad words, posted images of the chief editor, and called on people to boycott the official.

In an interview with Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, Longy said he had contacted his lawyer to prepare to sue Tri.

“However, I want Tri to admit his wrongdoing, correct it, and apologize to me first,” said Longy. “Otherwise, I will go on with my steps to file a lawsuit against him.”

Tri has responded that he does not care about what Longy had threatened.

Nguyen Quoc Ky, VTF general secretary, said, “It is just a personal matter between the two men and they should deal with it themselves.”

The VTF has contacted Longy to resolve the issue but he said he could decide on it himself, Ky said.

On April 14, another Vietnamese tennis international, Trinh Linh Giang, posted an image of the middle finger on Facebook to offend Vietnamese tennis officials and journalists.

However, he later removed the image from his Facebook page.

All this stems from recent media reports on infighting in the Vietnamese national tennis team.
