A meeting to conclude the Tet for Unfortunates and Agent Orange Victims program was held this morning April 14th in Hanoi. State President Truong Tan Sang, who is also Honorary President of the Vietnam Red Cross Society attended the meeting and handed out award to the winners of the Spring’s Kindness writing contest.
During the traditional New Year holiday the campaign raised more than 34 million USD to support nearly 1.97 million unfortunate people and children affected by Agent Orange nationwide.
Besides financial gifts, support came in all forms including building or reconstructing homes, provision of savings account, cows, warm blankets and clothes, bicycles, stationary, and scholarships for school children. The campaign was inaugurated in 1999, and has run for 16 years.
