Thousands of candles glowed the martyrs’ cemeteries of Ho Chi Minh City on Saturday to mark 40 years of Southern liberation and national reunification. Hundreds of youth union members from the South-Eastern region took part in the candle lighting ceremony to commemorate national heroes. At the same time tens of thousands of candles were also lit at 2,000 martyrs’ cemeteries across the nation. This national gesture pays tribute to the martyrs and wounded soldiers who sacrificed their lives for national independence over the years.
