The new water system helps residents to conserve water, and authorities can closely manage water supplies in the area.
Every household in Ken Hamlet, Eabá Commune has a faucet and water meter. Residents here call this “tap water” (tap water is a normal term in English, so the sentence sounds obvious). Thanks to this new water source, life here has changed significantly. The system saves time and labor, and people no longer worry about water supplies in the drought season. As many as 98% of the 429 households of Eabá Commune use water from the water supply stations of Song Hinh District.
Over the years, a number of water supply projects were attempted in the Hinh River region and other / nearby localities. However, water was not used properly due to issues in managementorganization / operation. Water supply facilities now install water pipes in every household, which makes it easier for authorities to manage.
Currently, 5 projects to install water pipes in every household are underway. In addition, 3500 households have gotten used to tap water and are willing to pay a water fee. Residents have to pay only 0.25 USD per 1 m3.There are 7 members in Ma Líp’s family, but he pays only 1 USD per month.
In the coming months, the water shortage in the South Central region will become more severe. Hence, projects providing water to support residents are essential.
