Tran Quang Trung, Detective Department, Quang Trach District’s People’s Committee, Quang Binh Province said: "For officials like us who work in Government agencies, learning more about human rights is very useful. Most importantly, it helps us to have better attitudes when we work with people".
Teaching and studying human rights is given much importance in many countries worldwide, and Vietnam is no exception.
Assoc. Prof. Trinh Quoc Toan, Acting Dean, Law Faculty, Vietnam National University said: "Vietnam is carrying out administrative and judicial reform to prepare for global integration. So, we must boost education about human rights and laws to meet the social demand and ensure a high quality labor force".
4 years after the trial program was launched, the Law Faculty has provided training in human rights for 65 officials in many government and local agencies. Soon, the faculty will officially launch a Master's program in Human Rights Law. It is expected to meet the nation’s demand for specialists in this field.
This is among the country’s latest efforts to improve human rights. Earlier in 2013, Vietnam ratified the amended Constitution to enhance the protection of Human rights in the country. In 2014, the National Assembly passed the UN Convention Against Torture and Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
