Vietnam actively copes with consequences of El Nino

According to recent weather forecasts, El Niño continues to affect the country, reaching its highest intensity in 1997/1998, and is likely to last until the end of the 2015/2016 spring season.

Accordingly, the directive specifies that the central and local-level state agencies should strictly review, assess, and minimise the impact of drought and salt water intrusion on business operations and daily life.

Irrigation, reservoir systems, and hydropower plant construction should also be monitored to serve agricultural purposes and ensure people’s livelihoods.
