Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung is currently at the local military command to directly control the mission and mobilise all forces for the search and rescue mission.
Deputy Prime Minister praised the tireless efforts by the search and rescue teams over recent days. The propeller of the missing CASA 212 aircraft was found at 9:50 am on Thursday morning, 60 metres underwater.
"Vietnamese people throughout the country are closely watching updates on the search and rescue of the missing crew members and aircraft. We’ll try to find out the cause of these accidents as soon as possible and work out measures to mitigate the consequences. I call on all forces are participating in the search to carry on find the missing crew to bring them home to their families", Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung spoke.
Earlier at 6 pm on Wednesday, a body was found near the Bach Long Vi Island and transferred to a hospital ship for identification. At 3pm on Thursday, another body was found 5 nautical miles to the east-northeast of the island, which is about 16 nautical miles from where the plane is believed to crash. The bodies are now pending a post-mortem examination to confirm their identity.
