A Vietnamese fishing boat identified his body and parachute floating in the water around 6 p.m. local time on Friday, about 33 nautical miles off the central coast of Nghe An Province.
The armed forces involved in the rescue conducted a salute and paid tribute to the fallen pilot.
Khai’s co-pilot, Major Nguyen Huu Cuong, was rescued earlier by local fishermen.
