Raw materials source locally helps textiles industry

VTV.vn - One of the requirements for the garments industry of the Trans-Pacific Partnership are the rules of origin. This means products when exported to countries in TPP must use all raw materials made in TPP countries.

Textile businesses in Hue have proactively sourced raw materials locally, and create business link with accessories production. Let’s see how this helps local businesses and attract investments.

Thua Thien-Hue Province has 50 enterprises operating in textile production. But from the needle, threads to labels and packing are still imported. High freight rates and a lack of actively in sourcing supplies has affected production.

Identifying the importance of sourcing materials locally is a motivation to attract investors to Hue, and the province has applied to the government for special mechanism in developing supporting industries in the textile sector. The province also given many preferential policies on land clearance and administrative procedures.

HiVi Vietnam Company specialises in garment accessories and lingerie and finds the province quite favourable in terms of production and market.

Besides that, Thua Thien Hue Province has attracted 12 investors in raw materials, specifically in fibre production.

"We’re currently promoting and changing to call for investment, one of the methods that we focus on is through businesses that have connection with partners to attract investments to Hue", Nguyen Van Cao - Chairman of Thua Thien - Hue People’s Committee - said.

The province also proposed credit priority for accessories enterprises, while encouraging them to actively implement multilateral connections between suppliers - customers - partners to create a supply chain in the textile field.
