The Vietnamese Association of South Korea met with representatives of the Vietnamese Navy on Oct 1st for the deployment of the Fund for the sovereignty over the Seas and Islands of Vietnam. The fund was formally debuted at the Fifth Vietnamese Culture Festival in South Korea held in August.
For the time being, the Fund will focus on a number of central activities, including support for housing schemes, and providing 10,000 USD for books and scholarships to students in Ho Chi Minh City, and the children of Vietnamese navy personnel on duty in the Truong Sa Archipelago. Additionally, the Fund will support research on technology for growing produce in harsh conditions, as well as the application of a desalination system on the Truong Sa islands.
