The event, organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, attracted about 2,000attendees. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung also attended the event.
Speaking at the event, the prime minister hailed the achievements of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment during the last 5 years. Yet he also stressed that an ineffective legal framework had led to environmental pollution in many regions.
According to the summary report, while Vietnam’s GDP could double in the next 10 years, environmental pollution would also triple. PM Dung also highlighted the need to develop a low-carbon economy making use of science and technological development.
