The two leaders discussed ways to enhance their partnership and preparations for President Barack Obama’s highly-anticipated visit to Vietnam. Minh hailed the two countries’ close co-operation, which he said was beneficial to the development of each country.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh emphasised that Vietnam always treasures its comprehensive co-operation with the US. Secretary Kerry said President Obama was looking forward to visiting Vietnam and deepening the comprehensive partnership in trade and investment, education, climate change mitigation, science, and technology. The two leaders also touched on East Sea issues.
The US backs Vietnam’s effort to ensure maritime security and safety and its determination to resolve disputes by peaceful means and international laws. On Wednesday, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh also met with leaders of Boeing Group and ACDL Group.
