The amended Press Law stipulates the right to freedom of the press; the public’s right to freedom of speech in the press; press organisations and activities; rights and duties of agencies, organisations and individuals involved in press activities; and state management of the press.
The reviews law is designed to replace the 1989 Press Law and its 1999 amendments. It will take effect from January 1st, 2017. Meanwhile, the new child law will take effect on June 1st 2017, replacing the Law on Child Protection, Care and Education.
The new child law stipulates children’s rights and duties, principles and measures to ensure the enforcement of children’s rights, the responsibilities of state agencies, organisations, educational establishments, families and individuals to exercise children’s rights and duties.
The National Assembly Standing Committee retained the stipulation defining a child as those below the age of 16.
