Mekong Delta requires more funding to combat salinisation

The Ministry of Finance has submitted a proposal providing 6.2 million USD to support these localities. This is however still considered insufficient; as experts have estimated that irrigation and water remediation projects require at least 44.8 million USD. According to the General Statistics Office, over 139,000 hectares of agricultural land have already suffered drought caused by the El Nino weather phenomenon.
