Kuwaiti Prime Minister begins official visit to Vietnam

VTV.vn - Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabad began a three-day official visit to Vietnam yesterday, May 6th, at the invitation of Vietnamese PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Kuwaiti PM was PM Phuc’s first diplomatic guest since taking office. PM Phuc welcomed PM Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabad’s visit on behalf of the Vietnamese government. The visit took place as the two countries celebrated 40 years of diplomatic relations.

The two leaders expressed their appreciation of how diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Kuwait have developed during the last 40 years, as well as their support for each other in multilateral forums, especially in the United Nations. Both PMs hoped that Kuwait-Vietnam relation will continue to develop in the future.

The Kuwaiti PM highly appreciated co-operation in the oil and gas sector. According to him, Kuwait will continue its preferential loans for Vietnam and further increase assistance in education, poverty reduction.

 PM Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabad and PM Phuc also discussed the East Sea situation at the meeting. Both leaders agreed that disputes should be solved diplomatically. They also condemned terrorism and reaffirmed their support for the international community in the fight against terrorism.

PM Phuc also accepted the Kuwaiti PM’s invitation to visit Kuwait in the near future. The two leaders witnessed the signing of a co-operation agreement on culture and art, a memorandum in sports, an agreement between the two countries’ chambers of commerce, and an agreement to continue co-operation within the framework of the Nghi Son oil refinery joint-venture project.
