At the meeting, the host said Japan was one of Vietnam’s key partners. The two countries are gaining increasing mutual political trust, economic co-operation and people-to people exchanges.
Sugi Ryotaro congratulated the state president for his election and expressed hopes to promote closer links between businesses and people from the two countries. He also proposed that Vietnam could have fire-fighting equipment from Japan. Sugi Ryotaro was appointed by the Vietnamese government as their Japan Special Friendship Ambassador in 2007.
