At the meeting, the two sides agreed to cooperate further across the board and promote their current strategic alliance, following the fruitful results of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s official visit to Japan last September. The two sides also prepared for Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s upcoming visit to Japan at the end of this month.
The two countries will work with each other to strengthen maritime security and ensure international and regional safety and peace, they said.
Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida affirmed that Vietnam is an important partner thats shares and respects Japan's law-abiding spirit. Regarding the East Vietnam Sea dispute, the Japanese FM shared his opinion that the “rule of law” should be strictly followed.
