VTV.vn - The government convened its monthly meeting this morning in Hanoi to discuss January’s socio-economic situation and the implementation of Resolution 1 on the country's 2016 socio-economic development plan and state budget.

According to a report by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the consumer price index (CPI) this month did not rise against the previous month. Hence, inflation increased by just 0.27%, though industrial production and exports improved.

However, slow recovery and instability in the world economy and plummeting crude oil prices are expected to affect Vietnam’s economy, especially its state budget. Besides, the recent cold weather has wreaked havoc on crops and livestock in the northern mountainous provinces.

Urgent solutions to prevent disease in cattle are needed. The government is also considering the amendment of several decrees.
