In the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh said that Vietnam has attached great importance to strengthening a spirit of friendliness and comprehensive co-operation with China. He also asked China to abide by agreements and the common perception held by high-ranking leaders and resolve disputes based on international law without affecting Sino-Vietnamese relations.
He urged China to implement agreed mechanisms on maritime issues, work with the ASEAN to comply with the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, and move to finalising the Code of Conduct of Parties in the East Sea, restrain from provocation, and appropriately resolve fishing issues.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang agreed on the need to maintain exchanges of delegations, people-to-people exchanges, improve the effectiveness of working groups, boost bilateral co-operation, and address differences and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
