Maritime legal experts, researchers and policy makers have agreed on the need to address disputes in the East Sea by peaceful measures in line with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea.
Vietnamese Ambassador to Indonesia Hoang Anh Tuan said international collaboration to seek solutions to disputes will help promote co-operation and peace in the region. Attendees also highlighted the centre role of ASEAN in addressing disputes at sea and dealing with maritime crime, resources and environmental security in the region.
