Addressing the a press conference in Hanoi on Thursday, the official said that recent activities by China in the East Sea have damaged the status quo and China’s militarisation in the East Sea was a concern.
These moves threaten bilateral relations between the two countries, and affected the security, safety and freedom of navigation in the East Sea and ran counter to international regulations, including the 2002 Declaration on the ASEAN Code of Conduct in the South China Sea between ASEAN and China.
Vietnam resolutely opposes China's recent acts and has demanded China to immediately stop any construction activities in the Paracel and Spratly archipelagos, and to comply with international law.
