TRÀ VINH — The Trà Vinh Province People’s Committee has given the go-ahead to three investors to build the Hiệp Thạnh Wind Power Plant with a total investment of VNĐ3.37 trillion (US$146 million).
The plant has a design capacity of 78MW from 18-19 turbines, and covers an area of more than 2,700ha in the coastal commune of Hiệp Thạnh in Duyên Hải Town in the Cửu Long (Mekong) Delta.
The investors are Hà Nội-based Ecotech Việt Nam, a renewable energy company, Singapore-based Janakuasa Pte Ltd, and Trà Vinh-based Ecotech company.
The plant is the fourth wind energy project receiving in-principle investment approval, according to the province’s Management Board of Economic Zones.
Previously, the province approved three other projects with a total design capacity of 192MW, with two in Trường Long Hòa Commune in Duyên Hải Town and another in Đông Hải Commune in Duyên Hải District.
According to the province’s wind power development plan to 2020 approved by the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Trà Vinh plans to set up six wind power plants.
The total installed capacity of the six wind power plants would be around 270MW, producing 634 million kWh. — VNS
