ĐẮK LẮK — Nearly 500 ethnic students were given the gift of clean water for Tết thanks to a new solar powered water purification system at their school in the central highlands Đắk Lắk Province.
Võ Thị Kim Thùy, deputy principal of the school in Krông Bông District, said the technology will help filter 360 litres of drinking water every hour from a 3.2kwp (kilowatt peak) system.
Thùy said the clean energy filter system, which was funded by the HCM City-based SolarBK corporation and the Green Innovation development centre (ID), was also designed to supply a clean power capacity of 4,438 kilowatts per hour per year for filtering drinkable water and power use.
She said the purified water system project – which is was part of European Union’s E-Enhance in empowering for social professional originations in sustainable and clean energy development – will help expand similar systems to other schools in the province.
According to operators, it will also supply clean water and power for the ethnic community living near the school.
The filter project will continue at primary schools in Cư Pui Commune until 2028.
Last year, a solar power project for the centre for children with disabilities in the central Quảng Ngãi Province’s Nghĩa Hành District was officially operated by SolarBK with funding from the Việt Nam Electricity (EVN). — LV
