QUẢNG NAM — Thirteen people have died and another four people were injured early Monday morning after their coach crashed into a container truck travelling the opposite direction on National Highway 1A in Vĩnh Điện Town, in the central province of Quảng Nam.
The coach was carrying 17 people from Hải Sơn Commune in the central province of Quảng Trị to Bình Định Province. The passengers were part of a wedding party, escorting the groom to the bride’s house in Bình Định Province. The groom reportedly died at the scene.
Quảng Nam Province People’s Committee chairman Đinh Văn Thu directed search and rescue efforts. He said that ten people died at the scene and three others while being taken to hospital. A further four injured people were hospitalised in Đà Nẵng.
By 7am, the wrecked coach had been cleared from the road while the cabin of the container truck was disassembled for later removal. — VNS
